The Mermaid Tavern was buzzing on Saturday night as islanders and guests gathered for the annual Guy competition, bonfire and firework display.  For the first time a bonfire weekend package was offered to guests who came to stay in the island Holiday Cottages.  Over 90 people took up the opportunity so there was a good crowd gathered around the bonfire.

The island was busy again on Sunday when members of Guernsey Velo Club came across with their bikes to race around the island.  The group went home rather muddier than when they arrived as they got caught in a very hail shower half way through the race!
