On Christmas morning, it is traditional for Hermites to gather down by the water for the annual Polar Bear Swim.
14 hardy souls made the dip into the freezing waters off Rosaire Steps on a mild, calm morning. There are differing opinions on the best way to approach the swim, but the general consensus seems to be one big leap in, then just as quickly get out!
It is a lovely way to start Christmas day, bringing residents and visitors together, even if it is just to watch those braver than you.
Everyone was then rewarded with brandy and hot chocolate, and a healthy appreciation for the firey warmth of the brazier.
