If you live in a place like Herm it’s good to make the most of your surroundings. Fishing is one of those pastimes that is a must do! ‘Mike the Fish’ got his name when there were a few chaps called Mike living here and because of his passion for fishing. He is the only Mike on Herm now but the name stuck! During the summer months he can often be seen heading out on his little boat, fishing rod in hand. Mike is very good at encouraging any of the Herm youngsters who show an interest in fishing. When Charlie accompanied Mike on one of his trips to fish off Sark he was thrilled to a catch a turbot that weighed in at 8lb.
Mark is another keen fisherman and spends many hours fishing from the shore. His patience is often rewarded. The photo below shows how pleased he was with a catch of a bass weighing 7lb 2oz which he caught from Fisherman’s Beach.
