Last week on Herm for Mel

by Herm, Tuesday 4 May 2010 14:04

Leana, Mel and JennyIf you have called the Herm administration office recently the phone may have been answered by either Leana or Jenny who are both taking over from Mel when he leaves at the end of this week.  Mel has been working on Herm for the past 23 years so will be missed by residents and regular visitors to Herm.  Mel, Leana and Jenny have been working under trying conditions recently as the office extension reaches the final phase.  The reception desk in the new extension is being built by island carpenter, Richard Knight and should be finished soon!

Mel

We wish you all the very best for the future.  You have always been so helpful to us in sorting out our camping. You really are part of Herm and will be missed.

Very best wishes, Mel.  You will be missed on Herm by so many people - guests, staff, islanders and past islanders, a real loss to Herm.  For so many years, when there has been a question to be answered, we would instantly say "Let's ask Mel.  He will know/help."  Good luck.  Be happy.

Thanks for the comments about Mel.  He will be missed by so many people.  Over the years he has become a great friend to islanders and guests.  However, we all wish him well in his new life.

Good luck with whatever you are planning to do next in your life. 23 years is pretty scary to have been working on Herm (who holds the record, do you know?).

I am sure you will miss the place, and everybody will miss you : )

Take care, Chaz Simon

Mel, how will Herm manage without you?  In the two seasons I worked alongside, you were the hub, the entertainer, the organiser, the gossip, the drinking buddy, quality control, bad hair mondays man, tent coordinator, mission control!  I guess everyone has to move on sooner or later - I wish you all the best of luck with your new plans.  Make that trip in Enzed soon!  Cheers buddy - Timo & Rosie

I remember your first year on Herm. You were in the White House waiting on.  Those days were great. Your will be missed.

It's always good to hear from ex-Hermites who are now spread around the world.  Yes, we all miss Mel too.
