Policing on Herm

by herm, Monday 26 September 2011 07:31

Yes, there are some police on Herm!  They aren’t called out very often as fortunately there is little crime in Herm but on busy summer days the Special Constables will show a reassuring presence and walk around the island.  On bank holidays a police constable from the Guernsey force will join the Herm team.  This August bank holiday PC Exall was here to promote a new Police initiative titled “Boat Sober, Speed Safe”.  The aim was to monitor boat movements to ensure the 6 knot speed limit is being observed by boaters around Herm.  He bought along a ‘speed gun’ for the day, an exercise that will be repeated throughout 2012.

Special Constables Bailey, Lowe and Moore do regular training with the Guernsey police force and have just returned from an officer safety course.
