This winter the Herm gardeners, Brett Moore and James Cordingley have been joined by Mark Latter who you probably recognise from being behind the bar at The Mermaid Tavern. The gardeners have just bought a new chipper shredder which can cope with bigger branches than the previous smaller machine. The path through the woodland walk has had a thick covering of chippings put down and some work has been done to prevent the chippings disappearing down the hill!
These photos were taken in Home Field, on the west side of the Spine Road, near Ben’s Seat. I walked through the goats winter accommodation on the way to Home Field. If you have visited Herm over the winter months and had missed seeing the goats in the field at the top of The Drive they have been put in a sheltered field near the gardener’s potting shed for the cold, wet months. It was very difficult to get a good photo of the goats – they just wanted to investigate the camera!
