Wine Evenings 2010

An appreciation of fine wines is a great tradition on Herm and one which Hospitality Director, Jonathan Watson has been very keen to develop. Jonathan makes regular buying trips to the wine regions of France to source wines of both exceptional quality and outstanding value for money. The House wines for the White House Hotel and Mermaid Tavern are selected from single vineyards, with Champagnes and regional French wines being selected personally by Jonathan.

Bordeaux - Friday 2nd July (please note change of date);
Spain - Sunday 25th July;
Burgundy - Sunday 3rd October;
Sparkling wine and Champagne - Sunday 10th October

Intended for wine enthusiasts, Jonathan will lead a tasting and discussion of the wines, oenology, geography and topography of some of the most important wine producing areas in the world.

Following this, a five-course meal will be served with course wines, demonstrating the versatility of the wines from each region. Places are limited in order to ensure an intimate environment.

Cost per person - £130.00

Includes the wine tasting, dinner, with course wines, breakfast and accommodation. Based on 2 sharing a double or twin.

September Sunset Sailaway

September Sunset Sail-away - 2 or 3 night break

(Throughout September and October arriving on a Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday)

This package includes evening meal, breakfast, return Travel Trident tickets, a box of chocolates and a bottle of Brown Brothers Pinot Noir/Chardonnay.

The Final Weekend

Friday 29th - Sunday 31st October 2010

Two nights of 6 course Gourmet menus with specially selected course wines, accommodation, breakfast and entertainment following dinner on both evenings.

On Friday evening, Karen Noble will sing the hits of Barbra Streisand and Dusty Springfield, whilst on the Saturday evening John Ellis will be performing as Elton John.

Christmas on Herm

Arriving on Tuesday 21^st December, Christmas on Herm is truly magical so come and join the island residents at this special time and stay in one of our Holiday Cottages. The Mermaid Tavern is open for most of the week. On Christmas Eve, there is an evening Carol service followed by drinks in Le Manoir, courtesy of the Directors and residents of Herm Island.  Be sure to bring your bathers as it is customary to make a splash at the Polar bear swim at 11.00am on Christmas morning, followed by a hot drink by the brazier.

New Year on Herm

Arriving on Tuesday 28^th December, New Year on Herm is an excellent way to welcome the year ahead. Settle into one of our Holiday Cottages, and on New Year’s Eve come and experience the Mermaid Tavern’s warm hospitality, where a themed party takes place until the early hours. Begin your resolutions on the morning of the first if you like - but feel free to break them again with another visit to the Mermaid at lunchtime!
